From my in-progress sequel to The Hole in the World:
“My impatient daughter,” Da chided with his doting tone. “She could not wait to get to town to be born.” Kahrin rolled her eyes. He sure loved telling the story of how she was literally born in a barn, and thus prone to leaving doors open and other very uncouth behavior. As if Brecken and Alec had ever been couth. “Small and too soon, and very, very angry that her choice to come so quickly had consequences.” Oh, he loved this part most. How she squalled her head off in the cold until she was wrapped in his flannel shirt.
